The Urban Shaman

Did you know that before you go through a shamanic dismemberment, your “shadow” is woven into your personality, so you really can’t see it. But after you go through a dismemberment, your shadow actually separates out, and starts to become increasingly more like an external entity. Many people on a shamanic path can fall into a discernment trap of confusing their own liberated/separated shadow for a demon, wetiko, etc. What makes it particularly hard is that it actually ACTS like a sovereign entity, but it’s actually still a part of your own soul. I call it your personal trickster. Steiner called it “the guardian of the lesser threshold”, because it blocks your way into the higher regions of the spiritual world, and holds the key to the deepest levels of self-knowledge.
